Press Release - The «Fight-ness » spirit is coming in Geneva!

In the heart of the neighborhood Les Pâquis in Geneva, the Martial Arts Academy Geneva (MAA) becomes the brand-new center for martial arts, combat sports, self-defense and fitness. No more needs to belong to a dojo or a combat sports gym, and having a fitness pass! The MAA combines all these disciplines in the same sports hall, offering a unique sporting experience in Geneva.

Forefront of the brand-new fitness trends

At the Martial Arts Academy, you will never see the way you had been looking at the martial arts and fitness before… No more intensive sporting trainings which the only goal is to burn calories, or clichés such as combat sports being too aggressive. The MAA offers you a way to make you feel physically and mentally better. “We do not only teach the techniques to our members, but we bring out values, a state of mind, a new lifestyle… it goes beyond sport…,” explains Marco Garcia Gonneau – Associate & Manager of the center. The Martial Arts Academy Geneva is a total innovative concept within the last sporting trends associating muscular strengthening, new biomechanical techniques, excelling oneself and a life’s philosophy. A first time in Geneva.

A unique center in the heart of Geneva

Opened all year round, 7 days/week with group classes available 12 months/12, even during school vacation. The MAA center offers 5 disciplines, which includes 2 in exclusivity:

  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (martial art based on techniques using the strength of others to defend oneself)
  • Mixed Martial Arts/MMA (combat sport closed to the free-fight, introducing different disciplines)
  • Close Combat System (associating the best hands-free combat techniques, or with artificial weapons reserved to professionals and insiders)
  • Self-Defense (discipline using the immediate environment– everyday life objects – in order to face an aggression while respecting the jurisprudence of the self-defense)
  • Cross Trainer in exclusivity in Geneva (a Cross Fit’s evolution which is a mix of a cardiac work-out and a new way of training: Pure Jump trampoline, FitLight TrainerTM…)

Members will have the opportunity to develop themselves in a super modern and trendy area of almost 800 m2. A 5-diameter professional fight MMA cage will be at their disposal as well as a huge surface of 300 m2 dedicated to bodybuilding and cardiac work-out. 120 m2 are devoted to the MMA and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and another 120 m2 for the Self-Defense and Cross Trainer discipline. All that equipped with the latest machines on market. A 3D scanner will be one of them; it will allow members to follow closely their progress and the effects of their training. They will also have access to the only Cryosense® cryotherapy cabin in thermal contrast in Switzerland; a technique that consists in exposing our bodies between +80 °C and -196 °C for three minutes. This exposure favours the release of endorphins or chemical substances that have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects that stimulate our immune system.
